Statute of Limitations in North Carolina for injury cases

On Behalf of | Mar 5, 2015 | Car Accidents

The law limits the time a person has to file a lawsuit. If those time limits are not met, your claim will forever be barred. It is important to speak with an attorney well in advance of the expiration of these time limits. You want to work with a lawyer who will waste no time and who will fight effectively to protect you and your family. Examples of time limits you must adhere to include:

  • Personal injury: 3 years from the date of injury
  • Wrongful death claims: 2 years from the date of death
  • Injury Claims regarding minor children: 3 years after the date of the minor’s 18th birthday
